Sustainability is becoming increasingly complex, with expanding requirements and expectations from customers, employees, regulators, and investors. Navigating this evolving landscape and ensuring compliance makes telling the company’s sustainability stories even harder.

As part of a small core team, cylindr played a pivotal role in shaping FLSmidth’s sustainability reports for 2021 to 2023 and the Sustainability Statement as part of the company’s first CSRD-aligned annual report released in 2025. 

How did we solve this challenge?

cylindr partner David Hoskin has assisted FLSmidth with a broad range of communication activities for more than a decade. Collaborating closely with key executive stakeholders, he plans and executes sustainability storytelling internally and externally, ensuring it conveys FLSmidth’s key messages, structure, and flow. Compelling case stories are sourced from FLSmidth’s operations worldwide, highlighting technical capabilities, customer successes and community engagement initiatives. Drawing upon his discussions with business managers, ESG experts and engineers, David crafts each narrative from start to finish across multiple formats and channels.

The outcome

Beyond the report’s nomination for EY’s 2023 Sustainability Awards, cylindr has helped to create consistent, on-brand and highly engaging articles, videos and social media assets that tell FLSmidth’s sustainability stories and engage a wide variety of stakeholders.
